Shameless Promotion

My nephew Mitchell is quite a hiker. He has completed the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide trail. In April 2023, he is heading to New Mexico to camp out on a piece of land he bought. This land is strategically placed to greet south-to-north Continental Divide hikers leaving the deserts and entering the much colder parts of the Continental Divide trek.

Mitch’s plan is to greet these hikers with just the essentials they need to buy at that point. And his inventory will include base layer hoodies, which Mitch has been sewing all winter.

We have seen prototypes of these hoodie base layers evolve over the last year. My sister Carol and I commissioned a whole set of them to give as Christmas presents to family members. We worked with Mitch to make these base layers in limited edition colors that reminded us of the Robbins family camp at Lake Hopatcong.

Both Marilyn and I brought our base layers with us on this cruise. I can now give a heartfelt testimonial for these base layers.

They have now been tested in the southern hemisphere and weathered Antarctic conditions.

They have been to the end of the world (Tierra del Fuego).

We both wore them in cold rain as part of a multi-layer system.

They are also versatile. After shedding the outer layer, they make a comfortable outfit for warming up in the Insignia Lounge.

Add a scarf and they are a fashionable item for an excursion in Ushuaia.
